Description

First there were her eyes, eyes surrounded with a pure, indolent face.
Things started to swirl around. A miscellany of intricate organic and mechanic pipes and wires filled up the space between us, and i forgot about everything. I even forgot about gravity. But still...there were her eyes, pure, indolent in the middle of technical nonsense.
-----
This drawing was initialy a sketch on a thin draft paper (A4 size), but i finally made it a finished artwork. I was almost not allowed to rub out because of the bad quality of the medium, so there are still errors that i can't touch up anymore (like with the right hand).

I sat here for awhile not really knowing what to say, so I guess I can only say i'm speechless. I hope you don't mind if I " try" and emulate your skill and level of detail. I now have a Bar in which to reach for in the delicate ensemble of a woman, a pencil and the medium before me.

the face is slanted a bit; the left cheek bone is larger than the right one. Great pencil work. Do you work with color too?

Avatar zancan

 10/28/02 @400

oh yes you're right for the cheek bone. My mother had noticed that too. Me not in time! :( Ermmm, let's say...there's a reason dor that, it's because the gravity is upside down, and she comes from vulcan planet where normal people have a longer right cheek bone and a wonky right hand

I can really appreciate and admire the tediousness of your work her and to the details in all your works. It is a patience that I personally am still very far from. Seeing your work gives me a positive encouragement that maybe, just maybe, (and with a lot of work and time) I can get to your level of which I would be honored to attain and be known for.
I love the oddity and originality of the idea too. It makes me wonder how people think and how thier brains work to translate it onto paper sometimes, and how I need to let my mind wander more often?
.... as critiquing though ---- the gravity thing would be the only thing to make it become more realistic, but if your going to forget about gravity, then shouldn't some hair, wires or chains be floating out towards us maybe more recklessly???
All in all, great composition, great shading, and this is some of the best artwork I have seen on this sight!
Kudos to you +5 for sure!!!

Good image, but I am a bit puzzled about the different centers of gravity. The chain around her neck, the chain in her right hand her curled hair all follow different directions, pointing to a different center of gravity. Looks like the gravity isn't upside down but split into three directions, covering an angle of 90 degrees? Eh? - This confusing issue about the gravity is keeping it from getting a +5, in my opinion.

You still showed a lot of patience with drawing all those little details, good work.

The gravity issues doesn't trouble me... I think the picture is really really really great. :) (thumbup) I only wish her left hand, the lower hand, was more slender. her eyes are particularly awesome.
